Information about Health Awareness

Health Awareness is part of the Dales Trust charity. We provide information and resources to promote good sexual health and challenge stigma and prejudice.

Health Awareness responds to the needs of local and regional communities. We find out about these needs through looking at local and national statistics, talking to our service users, conducting focus groups, and through feedback and training from health promotion events.

Health Awareness provides clear , accurate and up to date information to individuals, groups, and companies about the transmission of HIV and other STIs, and how to protect yourself and your sexual partners. Misinformation perpetuates old myths and stereotypes which simply encourage stigma and discrimination – providing good information can effectively challenge these myths!

Health Awareness also provides education, trainings and seminars around the rights of people living with HIV, and raises awareness of the issues challenging people living with HIV. In the light of the Equalities Act (2010), HIV needs to be fully integrated into equalities policies and systems. Health Awareness provides flexible educational opportunities which enable individuals, voluntary, public and private sector organisations to take this on board.
